Biala-Stride Early Childhood Intervention (Formally Biala Box Hill Inc.)

Biala Box Hill merged with Access Health and Community (formally Inner East Community Health Service) in July 2016.

Access Health and Community also provide an Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) program based at Templestowe Lower, Stride.  Biala and Stride have worked in partnership for several years.  As both services are now part of Access Health and Community the exciting step was made in August 2016 to form Biala-Stride ECI.

Both Biala and Stride continue to operate out of their current sites with the same staff / teams to deliver supports to children and families. These supports are offered to families who have a child that is aged from birth to school entry with a developmental delay or disability.

The programs are funded by the Department of Education and Training (DET) together with funds raised from grant submissions to charitable trusts and other fundraising activities, including donations.

What is early intervention?

All children need opportunities for stimulation, interaction and encouragement in their everyday learning settings to be, belong and learn.

A child with a developmental delay or disability and their family/carers may need additional supports to assist them to develop and learn optimally in their everyday settings.

Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) is a term used to describe the additional information and assistance offered to families of children with developmental delays or disabilities.
